Aural Grooves is a multi-faceted record label, music production, events, and music management agency based out of beautiful, Madison, Wisconsin in the United States.

au·ra /ˈôrə/ (noun) - the distinctive atmosphere or quality that seems to surround and be generated by a person, thing, or place.

​

au·ral /ˈôrəl/ (adjective) - relating to the ear or the sense of hearing.

​

Sound matters, and the name 'Aural Grooves' reflects the intent and nature of the music, production and values that I impart in my projects and work. A brief introduction:

 

ANKUR MALHOTRA is an Emmy-nominated musicologist, entrepreneur and engineer with an MBA from the Wisconsin School of Business. He established Madison Music Review (producer of Musique Electronique, Willy Street Beats) in 2007, and in 2010 co-founded Amarrass Records in India. He is a DJ/programming host on WORT 89.9FM, freelance photographer/videographer (see aneyeful.com), and an established international "global grooves on vinyl" DJ (SpinCycle). Ankur has served as a Jury Member at WOMEX (2013), is a panelist for the Transglobal World Music (TWMC) Charts, and in 2023 received the globalFEST 'Trouble Worldwide' Award. His work in the revival of folk music and vinyl culture in India has been featured in the New York Times, NPR, BBC, WPR, Rolling Stone India and more.
